With her jazz quartet ITAKIRY, Swiss-German singer Chiara Schönfeld tells mystical stories about nature and the human condition. 

The band’s name, derived from Schönfeld’s third first name and meaning “water that flows from the rock”, embodies their musical essence. Like spring water gently carving its way to the surface, Schönfeld’s clear voice weaves through the soundscape. Together with Mischa Maurer on piano, Rafael Jerjen on double bass, and Maris Egli on drums, the quartet shapes vivid musical sceneries and subtle grooves, seamlessly blending composition and improvisation. The tension between vulnerability and urgency creates a peaceful yet melancholy atmosphere, inviting listeners to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves. 

After ITAKIRY released the single Unknown Desire and the EP Shadows of Ourselves in early 2021, their debut album ITAKIRY followed on the SONNA Records label in September 2022. The band is currently creating a new EP, scheduled for release in 2025.
